Rep. Anthony Hartsook Condemns Democratic Fundraising Event Featuring Notorious Anti-Semite Following Boulder Terrorist Attack

(Denver, CO – June 2, 2025) – Colorado House Minority Caucus Chair Rep. Anthony Hartsook (R-Parker) strongly condemned Democratic leaders for holding a fundraising event with notorious anti-Semitic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) immediately after an anti-Semitic terrorist attack in Boulder.

Yesterday’s attack in Boulder targeted Jewish protesters supporting Israeli hostages held by the terrorist organization Hamas. Twelve people were injured, including a Holocaust survivor. Shortly after the attack, a fundraiser took place in Denver featuring Congresswoman Omar, with tickets asking for up to $7,000 per donor. The event was co-hosted by some of Colorado’s most prominent Democratic elected officials.

As a combat veteran who faced multiple terrorist organizations during his tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has been a longstanding leader against anti-Semitism, Rep. Hartsook has always stood firmly with the Jewish community worldwide and will never tolerate hatred or violence against them in any form.

“Colorado Democrats who raise money for a notorious anti-Semite should be ashamed of themselves for ever doing so, but doing it while victims of the latest wave of anti-Semitic violence were en route to the hospital is even more hypocritical and reprehensible,” said Rep. Hartsook.

He added, “Just last year, House Democrats turned away families of Israeli hostages, denying them access to the House floor for fear that House Democrats' own radical members might cause a scene. Enough is enough. We must speak loudly and clearly against extremists who justify violence against Jewish communities worldwide. There is no place for anti-Semitism in Colorado.”

The Boulder attack occurred around 1:30 p.m., and the fundraiser with Congresswoman Omar, which requested donations of up to $7,000 per person, was held from 2 to 4 p.m. in Denver.

Over a dozen Democrat legislators were listed as co-hosts, including high-profile Democratic leaders such as Senate President James Coleman, Senate Judiciary Chair Julie Gonzales, and Representative Junie Joseph (D-Boulder), whose district includes the site of the attack.

Congresswoman Omar has a well-documented history of anti-Semitic remarks, including harmful tropes about Jews and money and equating the U.S. and Israel with Hamas and the Taliban—comments that have drawn rebukes even from her own party.
