Minority Leader Caldwell and Representative Weinberg Praise Historic Steps Toward Peace in the Middle East

(Denver, CO – October 13, 2025) – Colorado House Minority Leader Jarvis Caldwell and Representative Ron Weinberg today issued the following joint statement following the announcement of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that resulted in the release of all living Israeli hostages and the return of four deceased hostages.

“Today marks a long-awaited moment of peace and healing,” said Minority Leader Jarvis Caldwell. “For two years, Israeli families have endured unimaginable anguish at the hands of a terrorist organization. The return of every living hostage is a powerful symbol of hope and a testament to Israel’s unwavering resolve to protect its people and defend its sovereignty.

Representative Ron Weinberg, who lived in Israel for several years and is a proud member of Colorado’s Jewish community, shared a deeply personal reflection:

“This is a day that brings both joy and sorrow, joy for the hostages who have finally come home, and sorrow for the four who were brought home to rest. As someone who has lived in Israel and witnessed its strength and resilience, I could not be prouder of the American-Israeli alliance. They have faced unimaginable evil with courage and faith. I want to thank President Trump and his team for their tireless efforts in helping bring these hostages home and standing firmly with Israel.
Am Yisrael Chai, the people of Israel live.”

Caldwell and Weinberg expressed deep gratitude for the American leadership that helped secure this historic agreement and reaffirmed their unwavering support for Israel as a beacon of democracy and stability in the Middle East. They emphasized that any lasting peace must be built on Israel’s security, the defeat of terrorism, and the shared belief in human dignity.

“The first steps toward peace are always the hardest,” Caldwell added. “But today, the world saw what can happen when courage leads and Israel stands strong.”
