About

Anthony Hartsook is a leader, husband, father, businessman, and a decorated combat veteran. The son of a construction family, he learned early the value of hard work and dedication to service. He was born in Inglewood, California, and graduated high school in San Diego. Anthony also lived in the San Joaquin Valley in Fresno and is very familiar with agriculture. He worked in the construction industry before joining the Army.

Anthony served with honor and distinction in the U.S. Army, rising through the enlisted and NCO ranks before becoming an officer. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 26 years. He served in combat deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the first Gulf War in 1990. His numerous assignments included the Pentagon Joint Staff, Northern Command in Colorado, Italy, Korea, and many stateside assignments. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Airborne Wings, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge Gold Medal.

After retiring from the Army, Anthony served as Director of Business Development for Aspen Communications, LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. He also served as Legislative Affairs Assistant for U.S. Representative Mike Coffman, focusing on support for local businesses, veterans’ healthcare, education, defense budget, and national security.

Anthony holds a Master’s in Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Northern Arizona University. He is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College, and a graduate of the Leadership Program of the Rockies. He has had a lifelong study of the martial arts where he holds a 6thDan in Chung Do Kwan and a 1st Dan in Judo.

Anthony has tutored kids in math, science, reading, and sports in middle and high school. He has extensive experience in leadership, planning, strategy, business development, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, critical infrastructure, and disaster response.

He is married to Dr. Julia Plevnia, and they have two sons, Harrison and Preston. They love the Colorado outdoors with hiking, skiing, and hunting.
